Sugar and Sweets
Hi Gilbert!
Did you know the average American eats (or drinks) over 500 calories of sugar in a day… that is about 36 teaspoons! In a given year, Americans are consuming over 150 pounds of sugar.
According to the USDA, “In 1822, the average American ate in 5 days the amount of sugar found in one of today’s 12-oz sodas. Now, we eat that much every 7 hours!”.
This over consumption of sugar is directly related to chronic disease such as diabetes, hypertension, and even cancer!
So how can we improve our health by decreasing sugar and how in the world is the average American consuming so much?
Join us tonight for our nutrition talk where we are going to talk about the effects of sugar on our health, where sugar is hiding, and 3 tips to stay more mindful.
